Shia Groups Exhume Body of Umar bin AbdulAziz

Written by Shoaib

A video has emerged from the village of Deir Sharqi where Umar bin AbdulAziz, known by some as the fifth rightly guided Caliph, is buried. The footage shows what appears to be the emptied graves of Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz (rh), his wife Fatima and his servant. The footage was posted on a pro-Assad website by an Iranian-backed Shia terrorist group. It is not known what became of the bodies.

In January, when pro-Assad forces and Iranian-backed Shia terrorist groups took the area, the graves were burnt and desecrated from the outside. By Tuesday 26th May 2020, it appears the bodies had been exhumed and the remains of their bodies taken away.

The footage shows an empty grave where Umar bin AbdulAziz was buried

The alleged exhumation echoes the desires of Ayatollah Khorasani who recently said:

” It is the obligation of every Muslim to dig up the graves of Abu Bakr and Umar and exhume what remains of their corpses”
Ayatollah Khorasani

It has been widely reported that these views were also expressed by the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini, who while addressing a youth rally said he wishes to take the revolution of Iran to Makkah and Madinah and dig up the graves of Abu Bakr and Umar.

Abu Bakr and Umar (رضي الله عنهم) were two of the closest friends and companions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Umar bin AbdulAziz was a great-grandson of Umar (رضي الله عنه) through his mother Layla the daughter of Asim bin Umar al Khattab.

Umar bin AbdulAziz was known for his piety, righteousness and justice. His gravestone dubs him as the fifth rightly guided Caliph and many have called him such due to the example of his rule being so much like the rightly guided four Caliphs. He could also be referred to as the sixth rightly guided Caliph due to Hasan bin Ali (رضي الله عنهم) being the potential fifth rightly guided Caliph.

Early Shia Imams have praised Umar bin AbdulAziz, despite criticising every ruler before him except Ali (رضي الله عنه). An Imam that both Sunnis and Shias universally accept is Imam Abu Jafar al-Baqir said:

“Umar bin AbdulAziz was the most glorious one of the Umayyad house. He was the master of their kings. He was the high-born one of the Umayyads”
(Al Siyuti, Tarikh al Khulafa p. 230)

Yet the Pro-Assad website lauds the act and expresses their hopes for the future.

The news was also reported by the Anadolu Agency among other Turkish outlets.

  • This gives me an ache in my heart . This is the lowliness of the rafidhis , the accursed filthy rafidhis , who’s hatred towards the people of tawheed and sunnah is clear as the day . Atleast now the ikhwanis and the muslims who call for “shia sunni unity and brotherhood” should open their eyes and see their filth .
