Lies Exposed: King Salman Did Not Sponsor Netanyahu’s Election

Written by Shoaib

Social media has a habit of getting carried when it comes to sharing false news, especially when it comes to Saudi Arabia. We saw millions of people share a false article that a man had been barred entry to Saudi Arabia because he was too good looking, then the false news that the Mufti of Saudi Arabia had issued a fatwa to call for the destruction of Churches, then the false news that Saudi Arabia lied about the moon sighting, and then the lie that the Mufti said you can eat your wife if you’re hungry.

This time the media’s fervour over the Panama leaks brought Saudi Arabia’s King into the fold. The “ground breaking” news was about King Salman who has publicly attacked Israel on numerous occasions and went as far to say that a Palestinian state is his “greatest priority”. So naturally news that King Salman paid $80,000,000 towards getting Netanyahu elected would be big news, if true.

Why is it False?

The fact that not a single respectable news outlet reported this story should have been enough to make one think twice before hitting the “retweet” button on Twitter, but that’s if people were to think before they acted. The main news source promoting this was the mouthpiece of Iran, Press TV. Again, for anyone genuinely thinking before they speak they may have spotted that Iran has been spreading lies against Saudi Arabia for years.

The source, Isaac Herzog, categorically denies he said anything of the sort

The source of the entire story, Isaac Herzog, categorically denies he said anything of the sort

In the end the false news died its true death at the hands of the source quoted. Press TV and others had falsely quoted Israeli Opposition Labour Leader Isaac Herzog saying:

“In March 2015, King Salman has deposited eighty million dollars to support Netanyahu’s campaign via a Syrian-Spanish person named Mohamed Eyad Kayali. The money was deposited to a company’s account in British Virgin Islands owned by Teddy Sagi, an Israeli billionaire and businessman, who has allocated the money to fund the campaign Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu” read the false quote on Panama Leaks.

The only problem with this quote is that Isaac Herzog never said it. Herzog categorically denied he had said or asserted anything of the sort. Iranian Press TV’s house of cards once again came tumbling down.

Why Do Lies Get Spread

Funnily enough these lies are spread by Muslims. The irony here is that the Muslim Holy Book, The Quran, is where Allah commands Muslims to not spread something until they have verified it.

In Surah Hujurat, Allah says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَن تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ

“O Believers, if an unrighteous person comes to you with information, you should verify it or else you might inflict harm on a people in ignorance and then end up regretting what you have done.”

After this verse, there’s nothing more I can say about the state of journalism today except that following the above verse would solve many problems in the world of media today.

  • The source is the Panama papers, showing King Salman’s and Nateyahu’s mysterious accounts. Naturally Herzagog will deny all knowledge.

    • He is the opposition leader, if he found such evidence he could taken Netanyahu down. Why would he deny knowledge.

What you’re saying is a conspiracy to prove a conspiracy. Conspiracy-ception.

  • Hello Shoaib, I’ve never come across false news published by Press TV before! I will be mindful for the next time.. Journalistic integrity is definitely missing but independent news agencies do not always have the budget to verify everything. There are some independent news agencies masquerading as genuine agencies while spreading lies and rumours, such as “YourNewsWire.”

  • Not sure if I agree with the author. There is plenty of documented trade and cooperation between Saudi and Israel for decades. I understand from folks involved on both ends that approximately 80% of the produce that makes it into the Kingdom is grown in Israel then shipped through Jordan and Egypt. It used to be Syria but the civil war stopped that.

    • Do you have any evidence (real non-propaganda evidence) that 80% of produce in Saudi is made in Israel and that trade has taken place between the two nations?

  • Alhamdulillah for giving us the truth, may Allah reward you greatly in this world & hereafter in shaa Allah amin # Anwar from South Africa

  • is this site a reputable Online News Channel too ?
Just because it has “Muslim” in front of the rest of the name, dose this mean it is trustworthy too ?

    • Don’t trust us, don’t trust online news, don’t trust the mainstream. Research for yourself and come to your own conclusions.

  • I read the news and it was easy for me to believe it is true rather than false, i based that on the history of the Arab leaders past, it is safe to say that almost all of them works against their people and dealing underhand with the Israeli leaders in order for America to be happy with them and to keep their power

    • So you believe it on the basis of no evidence, in fact against evidence. Cool, you have free will.

  • The Al Sauds are Kings of Yahudi Arabia. They are Crypto Jews just like the Donmeh of Turkey. Please tell us Shoaib what these dogs of Yahudi Arabia have done for Palestine? Did they send their American supplied airforce to defend Palestine or did they send them to Yemen to kill Muslims on behalf of Israel and the USA. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself for attempting to defend these laanati children of Yazeed, Muawiya and Abu Sufyan.

    • The fact that you just abused the father-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad (saws) Abu Sufyan (RadiAllahu’an) and abused the one who Hasan (RadiAllahu’an) gave pledge of allegiance to, Muaqiyah (RadiAllahu’an) shows that you’re most likely an Iranian supoorting Shi’ite whose bias on this topic means I shouldn’t even reply.

But I will. There is no evidence for what you’re saying. Saudi Arabia took part in the six day war, Iran did not. Saudi Arabia funds Palestine time and time again. You might be stupid enough to think Saudi Arabia, a country with limited military experience, should attack Israel, perhaps the most advanced military of the world. The six day war showed that war is not a way forward.

Yemen on the other hand is different. Iranian backed Houthi terrorists are being buried in Yemen for the death they caused to the country.

  • JazakAllahu khair wa ahsan al jaza.
I have so far read this article and one other which is about Aurangzeb rahimahullah. Excited to read more, don’t have words to thank you enough.

  • Highly dubious attempt at a cover up. Shoaib please read Robert Parry’s article “Did Money Seal Israeli-Saudi Alliance?” on this issue. (Consortitum News was founded by Robert Parry who was awarded the I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence).
